Panzerkampfwagen VIII "Maus" - Überschwerer Panzer

THE FINAL PANZERKAMPFWAGEN. THE LINEUP IS COMPLETE.

188 tons. The heaviest fully enclosed armored fighting vehicle ever built. And Germany built it while the war was already lost.

By 1944, the rational play was more Panthers, more Panzer IVs, more ammunition, more fuel. Instead, Ferdinand Porsche — the same man whose rejected Tiger chassis became the Elefant — convinced Hitler to greenlight the single most absurd armored vehicle in the history of warfare.

The Maus.

128mm main gun. 75mm coaxial gun. Frontal armor so thick that nothing the Allies or the Soviets fielded could have penetrated it at any combat range. An engine designed for a vehicle half its weight. So heavy it would collapse any bridge it tried to cross — the plan was to ford rivers on the bottom, sealed and waterproof, pulling power through a cable from a second Maus on the bank.

Only two prototypes were ever completed. They never saw real combat. Soviet forces captured them at the Kummersdorf proving grounds in 1945. One surviving Maus sits in the Kubinka Tank Museum outside Moscow today — the only complete example on earth.

Was it a war-winning weapon? No. It was an engineering fever dream built by a collapsing regime that still believed in wonder weapons. But that's exactly why it's legendary. The Maus is the final word in the Panzerkampfwagen lineage — the last Roman numeral, the end of the line from I to VIII.

And with this kit, BrixKrieg now carries the complete Panzerkampfwagen series. From the tiny Panzer I that rolled into Spain and Poland to the 188-ton Maus that never left the proving ground. The full evolution. Every numeral. On your shelf.

What you're building:

  • The massive 12.8 cm KwK 44 L/55 main gun and 7.5 cm coaxial gun
  • That unmistakable silhouette — the rounded turret, the impossible width, the sheer absurdity of scale
  • A build that earns its place as the centerpiece of any Panzer collection
